New season

26th October 2011
I have awoken from my slumber! Went out with my camera for the first time in a while today. I generally leave the camera in its bag during the summer months as sunrise is too early and I have other hobbies to enjoy.
The new season always brings with it a desire for new locations, which is always difficult unless you travel; something I have done quite a lot. Recently, I heard that The Naze, my favourite local area for seascapes, has had some new defences put in, so I thought I would give it a visit. Not spectacular but a start. New images coming soon.
I have also ordered a 4 thirds compact with interchangeable lenses to have fun with. The idea is to try some abstract photography and some Cartier-Bresson type black and whites. Although whether any ever make it onto this site remains to be seen.
I do not have any trips planned as yet this year so we shall have to see what happens. I have a desire to get down to Cornwall, or maybe back up to Yorkshire but who knows. My ambitions this year are just to get out and enjoy using my camera. I have been overly concerned with going to different places over the last few years. The truth is that even familiar places look different at every dawn so I am not going to get too hung up with this in 2011/12. Seascapes still interest me the most although this may be the year to revisit some of the marvellous East Anglian countryside.
On a different note, its good to see the Take a View winners for this year. Some great images as always. I did not enter anything for this year as I didn't feel I had anything worthy. I will try to put this right this year.
Thanks for visiting the site whilst I have been hibernating. Your comments, of which there have been many, are always welcome. I have quite a few camera club talks booked for next year so I may well see you at one of them.
Here's to a good year!
